Creating Grid from scratch
After selecting the Start from scratch option under the Add Grid dropdown menu, new Untitled Grid will appear in the selected Database.
Rename the Grid and select a color.
NOTE: If you choose this option, you will have to set up localization for this Grid manually. Refer to Localization setup to use the localization wizard.
Uploading a file to import an existing spreadsheet
Select the file and click Open.
The file will be imported and appear in the selected Database.
Click the drop-down menu to rename the Grid and select a color.
NOTE: If you choose this option, you will have to set up localization for this Grid manually. Refer to Localization setup to use the localization wizard.
Creating Grid by duplicating Grid
You can create new Grid by duplicating an existing one. When duplicating Grid, the new Grid will have the exact same settings as the original one. To duplicate Grid, go to your project, click on the 3-dot menu, and select "Duplicate". Choose a name and whether you want to duplicate also records from the existing Grid or not:
Localization setup
With localization setup, you are able to quickly set source and target languages for your Grid. Columns and dependencies are created automatically. Without selecting this option, you need to set this manually after creating a standard grid.
A. Creating new translation Grid
Select this option to create a new, blank Grid and set up localization.
-
Enter Grid name.
-
Select the source language.
-
Select the targeted languages (creates columns in the Grid for each of these language translations).
-
Under Other columns, select any of three options (String identifier, Additional information, Character limit) to prepopulate the new Grid with these columns.
-
Click Create.
B. Importing a file
Select this option to import an existing spreadsheet (.csv, .xls, .xlsx) and set up localization.
-
Enter Grid name.
-
By default, the localization wizard recognizes the first row as a “heading row” (does not contain data). Deselect this option if the first row contains data to be localized.
-
Map each of the imported columns by clicking What is this column?, and select the applicable ID from the drop-down menu.
-
For a simplified view, select the list view icon on the right-hand side.
Once you have selected the ID for each of the columns you want to map, click Create.
NOTE: The Create button will only be available once one of the Source language columns has been mapped.
