Character map

The Character map in Gridly provides quick access to special characters and symbols that you can insert into your text fields and cells. This feature is especially useful when working with localization content that requires special characters, punctuation marks, or unicode symbols.

Opening the Character map

You can open the Character map from anywhere in Gridly (including Grids and the CAT editor) using the keyboard shortcut:

  • MacOS: Cmd + Shift + S
  • Windows: Ctrl + Shift + S

Using the Character map

Searching for characters

Use the search bar at the top to find specific characters:

  • Search by character name (e.g., "quotation")
  • Search by unicode value (e.g., "U+0022")

Filtering characters

You can narrow down the character list using the filter dropdowns:

  • Category - Filter characters by category type
  • Group - Filter characters by group

Inserting characters

To insert a character into your text field or cell:

  1. Click on the character you want to use from the table
  2. The character will be automatically inserted at your cursor position
